Help Why won't new phone stay connected to wi-fi?

LG Fiesta Tracfone bought from HSN, Android 7.0 Nougat. I haven't altered it in any meaningful way, that I know of. I've set it to stay connected to wifi even when the screen is asleep. But it just won't! Unlike the Samsungs that I usually buy, this phone refuses to connect with Xfinity hotspots in town, even though I am logging correctly. And it disconnects after a few seconds whenever I connect to home or work network, can't stream anything. Problem has been getting progressively worse in the few days I've had it. Any fix? TIA.

Has this WiFi connectivity problem just started recently or has it been a long-standing issue?
You could try to go into your Settings menu, find the 'Network settings reset' option and try that. This will reset all network-related settings to their defaults.
But if it's been happening as long as you've had the phone, it could be something more involved. How long have you had this phone?

Well, I did figure out one part of the problem. Xfinity only allows a total of 20 devices to be authorized to connect to its services per account. I still had a number of old devices in my list. Once I thinned those down I could connect to Xfinity's hotspots.
