Help Why Won't These Apps Work?

StLouisMan2

Newbie
I'm starting this thread for those of us who have favorite apps on our ZTE Valet Android 4.1 phones that haven't worked in like 4 months. If you're like me you're getting pretty frustrated because maybe the app you like always used to post to Facebook, but it hasn't for a couple of months. You report it, but no action ever seems to be taken. Or maybe the app you like still hasn't been updated to record video on your ZTE Valet, but it appears to record on all of the other phone models. You've written and written, and asked and asked, but no progress ever seems to get made. What I want to do here is compile a list of apps that haven't been working right on the ZTE Valet for a while, if ever. Then I'll contact each app developer with a list of people who would like to see that app working on their phone to see whether we can get some action taken. If we can't get action, we can at least get a defensible explanation for why no action is being taken. I'll start the ball rolling with just 2 apps as examples of what I think we need.

The Viggle app: The Viggle app used to work just great, but it has had one big problem since Android got a system upgrade to Android 4.4 and then, to Android 4.4.2. It won't post to Facebook or Twitter. For a while, it was posting to Twitter and saying "Unknown error. Post unsuccessful." Then, there would be no Facebook post. Now, it doesn't post to either Facebook or Twitter, and says "Unknown error. Post unsuccessful. Post to Twitter failed."

The Vine app: I got the phone in October of 2013. When I tried to record video, a message came up that said video recording was not yet enabled on my device. It is now mid January of 2014 and it still doesn't record video on my device.

I'll give folks a few days to notice this post, etc. and then, I'll add 2 more apps.

You don't mean your Valet got updated to 4.4.2, right? Just that 4.4 and 4.4.2 were officially released and that's when Viggle stopped working?

As for me, I have had two incidents since installing JuiceDefender Plus, but I'm not sure yet whether it's because of the app. The symptoms are that the screen won't turn on and holding the power button doesn't cause a shutdown. I can tell there's still some power because the back/home/menu softkeys light up if the ambient lighting's poor. The only way I've been able to recover has been by taking out the battery and putting it back in. (Is there a term for that sort of freeze?)

Ah, I should have read more of the forum before posting this. Looks like lots of people are having it. I'm still going to go without JuiceDefender for a while to see if it helps.

You interpreted that correctly: My ZTE Valet DID NOT GET UPDATED. I just used the release times of those system upgrades to mark the time of the change in Viggle.

By the way, my ZTE Valet has frozen like you describe at least twice and it has been recently. I wish that wouldn't happen, but I've been ignoring it for right now. I didn't know anyone else was experiencing it.

I've been without JuiceDefender (Plus or any variety) for about a month now and haven't had any of those freezes since.

I'm having a problem with the Amazon Appstore. I have 3rd-party apps turned on in settings. I downloaded the Appstore and installed it. Works so far. I have several Apps I got for free from Amazon with their free-app-of-the day (on my Android Tablets) I wanted to install. I logged onto the Appstore with my account and the apps showed up as purchased.

I downloaded one (Printer Share - a $13 app on Play Store that was free one day on Amazon), download completed but it got stuck at installing - never installed. I tried 2 other Apps (one a free one) and same thing. If I close Appstore and re-launch they say "install pending" but they never install. Tried deleting cache and data, uninstall - re-install still the same problem.

Sideloaded a backed-up version and it's working so far but Appstore won't update it - same messages as above.
