Help wi-fi connection intermittent after JB update

LeviLady

I had no problem staying connected to my home wi-fi before the JB update. Now, the GSII Epic 4G Touch with Sprint gives me "authentication error occurred". (Two hours with Sprint was no help.) I gave up trying and sometime later noticed it had connected, but it doesn't stay on. Is there a setting that I need to change? I only get 1 or 2 bars in my home on 3G so it's a real pain to try to re-install the apps that I had before the JB update.
Any help would be appreciated, but I'm not a very tech savvy Sr. so the instructions would have to be very easy to follow. Thanks.

Disable connection optimizer in settings. That's what keeps messing with the Wi-Fi settings. Go into "more settings" and then mobile networks to find it.

I had a problem before thr update that I would have to turn on WiFi everytime the phone "woke up" after having been idle. It seemed to disconnect itself from WiFi when it went to sleep and still does. But since the update, it automatically hooks backup to the WiFi - which I think is a good thing.

Sometimes clearing the cache will clear out the phone's "confusion". Try turning the phone OFF, then power it back on while holding the VOLUME UP button. After the Android guy appears, move (volume buttons) to choose the cache clearing option. Restart and then see if clearing the cache helps. HTH.

I've tried this several times and it just restarts without giving me a screen with the Android guy so I never see a chance to clear cache. Is there another way to clear the cache?

I don't think so. Make sure you hold vol up and power until the recovery screen comes up. Sometimes if you dont hold it long enough then it restarts
