When I turn my wi-fi on, it goes off in about 25 seconds. What should I do?

Sorry about asking a question in the introduction area. I am new to my Android smart phone. I live near Mt. Shasta in Northern CA and have been retired for some years.

What device do you have? That might shed some light on the issue.
In the past I had some wifi issues that seemed to happen randomly with my HTC evo. It wasn't something that I could repeat, or predict. Sometimes entering airplane mode for a moment and then switching back would fix it, sometimes not. Sometimes a power cycle would fix it. Sometimes not.
I'd try to get an app called Wifi Analyzer. Then, there will be several 'views'. They are kind of cool to look at, but one in particular lets you try to connect. Now, it won't work. You need to install the Wifi connector application that it prompts you for. I'm only suggesting this in case it's a software issue (with whatever device overlay/skin your device might have)... That might help. If not, we can try some other things.
