Wi-Fi Direct

I've just bought myself an LG G Pad 8.3 and I'm having trouble connecting it to my Samsung Galaxy S3 through wi-fi direct, they can find each other when I run a scan, it's just that nothing will send, any help would be much appreciated please.
 
They don't do that automatically, any more than they do when they're on the same wifi network. Wifi Direct just means that there doesn't have to be a wifi router around - they connect to each other. You still need apps that would work on a network to transfer files or whatever else you want to do. For instance, run an ftp server on one and an ftp client on the other.
