Apps Widgets and listening to connectivity

Hi I created a simple news widget, search for "drudge". I based the code from SimpleWiktionary. My phone has no data plan but Wifi works at home. The widget works fine but when the phone sleeps, it turns off Wifi, when you go back on, it tries to reconnect. At that time tho the widget has already run and causes errors because there is no internet at that time.

Can someone give me specific hints if there is any way I could add a listener to whenever the phone gets on the internet?
