Wifi calling from Europe

OK, just spent 3 hours reading about how to make a call over a wifi hotspot in europe to a landline/cell in the USA.

I think I am more confused than I was when I started. Some ppl say you need an SIP provider, some say you dont, some say you need a PBXes account, some say you dont, some say you need google voice, some say you dont... some say get a Gizmo5 account, but its no longer open.

I have read 3 different tutorials that each say to do something different.

Can anyone give me any guidance on this one?

The answers to all the questions you posted are "yes", as it depends on what you have, and what you want to use.

How do you want to call, or rather, "what service" do you want to use, to make the calls?
