WiFi calling

Per a story by Droid Life update for WiFi calling rolls out Monday. Only other thing it contains is latest security updates.

My first thought is - man, it's about time. My second thought is that I've had some issues with WiFi calling on a phone that already supports it, so I don't use it much anyway.

Someone commented on another site that is Android 6.0.1. Not sure about that though.

Just checked and my phone said this update is available so it's installing as I type. If this works I'm hoping to be able to call from Canada next summer on our way through to Alaska. We're planning a 2 month "mostly camping" trip to Glacier National Park in Montana (we live in northern California) and then up through Canada and Alaska to the end of the Alaska Highway.

Also have a 28 day cruise to Hawaii and the South Pacific booked for next October so may be able to use this to call from the ship or from places such as Pago Pago, Bora Bora, etc. Keeping my fingers crossed. :)

(We don't really make that many calls but having the ability "for free" when out of the country sounds pretty good.)
