Help WiFi concerns

I have a 12mbps connection at home. Speed tests on my laptop (connected via wireless/wifi modem) match what I should be getting (11-12 mbps).

When I do a speed test on my Nexus One (when it's connected to the WiFi) - I can't hit higher than about 5.7mbps down and 4-5 mbps up.

I didn't think this phone was capped...

Could be related to the speed of the processor and RAM. I did a speed test for 3G and only pulled 400kbps. When I tethered it to my laptop, my connection was twice as much. Been wondering about this as well.

My girlfriends backflip hits 3 mbps or something max when on wifi..

Over the 3g network it usually hits somewhere between 400-800 kbps..

I don't imagine the nexus one should have any major issues getting the most out of a wifi connection... you guys running 2.2 or 2.1?
