WiFi Connection Moto G5S Plus

I have a problem with my Moto G5S Plus with connecting to my home WiFi. The problem seems to be that when mobile data is enabled the phone will connect to wifi (BT Home Hub 5) but says 'Connected, no internet'. My wife has an identical phone bought at the same time and set up the same way but does not have this issue. If I turn off mobile data the WiFi works (sometimes immediately and sometimes after restarting). This is irritating as it won't pick up the home WiFi when I've been out and return home and stays on the mobile data.

Go to settings>WiFi and tap on the menu (three dots in upper right)>Advanced WiFi and see if you have a slider there to switch to mobile data when internet is unavailable through WiFi. If so, turn it off.

I only seem to have the options shown in the attached image on the advanced WiFi menu

Have you tried "forgetting" your WiFi credentials for your home router and re-entering them?

Hi, yes, I've done that and done a complete network reset. My wife's identification phone is fine and mine connects as soon as I switch off mobile data. It's just as if the mobile data is overriding the WiFi.

That should have said 'identical' not 'identification'. (Auto correct!)

Have you experienced this same issue when it involves a different WiFi network like at work or a friend's home?

I've not had the phone long so not used it at work but just been out for a meal and connected to free WiFi at restaurant with no problem.

The phone also stays connected to wifi if I switch mobile data back on once connected. It's just an irritation because I could easily forget and use mobile data when I think I'm on WiFi.

If your BT Home Hub 5 includes the function to add a guest network, try setting up a temporary guest network, using a completely different SSID and password of course, along with disabling IPv6, and connect your phone to that guest network to see you still have the same problem.

Another thing you might want to look into is if you have any kind of anti-virus/anti-malware app installed on your phone. Try disabling all its features and see if that makes any difference.

On a side note, this article might be relevant to you:

Apparently the title is just a bit misleading, as 'more reliable' might be more appropriate than 'make it faster'.

Thanks for those ideas. I'll give them a try. I do suspect something about the BT hub as well so will play with that. Will post back if anything works!

Yes, post a status report later please. This is odd as your wife's identical phone is fine.
You might also want to just experiment with your Settings some more, in Settings >> Wi-Fi to the right of those three vertical dots, there might be a gear icon just to the left. Tap on it to access a 'Configure Wi-Fi' page some basic options that might help.
