Help WIFI connections flaky

I have a RAZR MAXX and in many places I cannot get a WIFI connection. I will get a message saying it is avoiding the network due to a poor connection. Yet. other people with different phones have no issue connecting. Is there a known issue or bug with this phone, or something I can change to let it connect?

My Incredible 2 and Moto X phones get much better WiFi reception than my Razr Maxx no matter where the location. Dunno why.

I've always had WIFI connection issues with my Motorola Droid Razr Maxx.
