Help Wifi connectivity issue

I have a samsung galaxy j7 prime. My roommate has an s7 edge. We both use the same wifi network. The problem is that when my room mates s7 edge is not connected to wifi i can connect and use wifi but as soon as he connects to wifi my wifi continously connects and disconnects and "internet is not available " is written unfer the wifi id. This is very irritating as i cant use wifi when my room mates phone is connected please help!!!

Hard to determine if this is a sender issue (the wireless router) or receiver one (you and/or your roommate's phone). Just focusing on the router, what kind is it? An ISP-supplied modem/router or a separate third-party wireless router? Also, is it something you have control of? (As in is it in your apartment or is it more of a communal network serving a home or an apartment.)
