Help WiFi direct

I have a question.
how can I share files between 2 phones over local only wifi, without having a router, and without the phones being Wifi Direct certified?
I had a Samsung that had wifi direct and I guess that's what you'd need, but my phones do have WiFi hotspot so I can make one connect to the other.
How can I send files from the old one to the new one using the wifi tethering?

You can try installing a WiFi Direct app from Play Store.

Or you can always Bluetooth.
