Help WiFi hotspot through my S3

Hadrian

Lurker
Hello,
I just ordered my Nexus 10 after quite a bit of back and forth research between the N10 and the Tab2. I often use my Samsung Galaxy S3 as a wifi hotspot at work to connect to my last netbook. Seeing as how the N10 is WiFi compatible and I have never had an issue I am not anticipating a problem.

Has anyone used the N10 to connect to the internet through their phone hotspot? Any problems?

Yes. If the phone can use "Infrastructure" mode in your hotspot, you can do it. Otherwise, you can't- Android devices don't natively support ad-hoc networks. I miss the WPA_Supplicant on my old Acer a500 :(

I've connected my N10 using my S3 as a wifi hotspot on many occasions, no issues at all :)

I don't know what the infrastructure mode is, but I have a galaxy nexus phone and I tether my Nex 10 to it with no problem. But my phone is not tied to a carrier and I use the stock tether program that came with it. Most carriers disable it and then sell you the option.

I have had a bit of trouble with tethering, both usb and blue tooth. But have not had trouble using it as a wifi hotspot at all.
