Wifi is not really off...

I checked my wireless router this morning and noticed that a device called "android_22a10000......" was showing up in the DHCP client list. Hmmmm...I thought. I usually leave my Android WIFI off at night so I checked it. Sure enough, it is in the "off" position. I'm using the latest Sprint/EVO 2.2 release and and wondering if anyone else has noticed this little tidbit?

My perception is that it isn't truly off and is using already limited, precious battery resources on the EVT to connect to the WIFI.

Perhaps others here can try this out and post back the results?

Its your router, not the phone.

By default, many routers hang onto dhcp assigned ip addresses for 24 hours after the device disconnects. You can look under the setting of your router to make it hang onto the address for less time.

yes you can do that but regardless if the wifi is turned off its off its not using battery power

DHCP Lease time, router will give the address and remember it for the duration of the lease time weather or not the client is using it.
