Help Wifi Issues

BryanDM

Lurker
My LG V10 is constantly disconnecting from Wifi because it thinks the cellular data is faster (it's not).

After some research I found the issue to be the "smart network switch", but I cannot find it anywhere, including Setting > Wifi > Advanced Wifi.

Does anyone else have this issue?

I show it in Setting > Wifi > Advanced Wifi, the 4th check box down... "Avoid bad Wi-Fi connections" right below "Allow Wi-Fi scanning"

I don't,but, try these setting in WI-FI >ADVANCED SETTINGS (tap the 3-dot Icon in the Upper R/H corner)
De-select "Switch to mobile data" & also de-select Passpoint.

Looks like you're on VZW,the OP & myself are on T-Mobile & once again, not everything is the same.
We don't have the options that you have, they're a bit different.
I'll post some screenshots later this evening.

I deselected ALL of the options. I just got home, 5 seconds after being on Wi-Fi it dropped it.

This is silly and shouldn't be an issue in 2015.

Too frustrating to handle. I'll be going back to Samsung tomorrow. I was really enjoying this phone too!

It doesn't switch to the faster of the two network options. It switches based on stronger signal. Speed and strength of signals are two totally different things.

Yeah I mis worded it. Not really contributing to a solution though.

By the way, I let the tech convince me to try a new lg v10, and it works great and stays connected. Must have just been a lemon!

Glad to hear the good news,it'd been a shame to have to go to another phone.
I have another phone (Note5) & since I got the V10,I rarely use the Note5,can't wait to Jump out of it come February.

BTW................ a belated WELCOME TO ANDROID FORUMS BryanDM ! :thumbsupdroid:

Possible solution the next time it might happen. In advance Wi-Fi settings there's an option to stop the phone from auto switching.
