Wifi on LG Optimus Slider keeps shutting off every time the phone locks?

My phone isn't getting good reception right now, so I'm relying on the wifi in my house, but whenever my phone locks up the wifi disconects and I have to reconnect it manually. It doesn't take long but it's very annoying. How do I change this?
