The a in aGPS does! And the chips that are in these devices all seem to be a Texas Instruments ( like) that are very week by them selves compared to whats in a PND like Garmin.
But if you're right you don't need the MIFI if you have an app with maps!
I don't see why it wouldn't work. I believe aGPS can request a physical location from the device it is hooked into. As long as the MIFI can respond to that request.
