Help WiFi Problem With Galaxy S

Hi all,
I am in Australia so my Galaxy is just the i9000 (not vibrant or captivate or anything). I have had it for a week and a half and it has worked great. I have had the WiFi connected at minimum 10 different places. Now I come to Dads and the phone wont even pick up that there is wifi available. My laptop and two iPhones have no problem connecting even when they are right next to the Galaxy.

I have tried re-booting the phone and the WiFi but cant think what the issue is.
When I try to scan for WiFi there is about half a seconds worth of scanning displayed then it just continues to show me that there is no wifi available.

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help me with this problem.

Cheers,

I have a similar problems here in Brazil...
My Galaxy S stopped working with my home wi fi...I changed the router's chanel and it was working fine, but stopped again...
I heard that wireless phones can make this...
Hope it helps...

Instructions to manually override the wifi dhcp settings of your phone. It should connect again. (Had the same problem with my s19000, what a pain!)

Instructions:

Tap - Menu - Settings - Wireless and network - Wi-Fi Settings

From here tap the left menu button (hard menu)
Select Advanced

Enable "Use static ip"

Now, to set up the manual ip you need to go through and fill out ALL the entries below the checkbox. (ie Ip address, gateway, netmask, dns 1 & 2)

To get those values = On your PC - Click start - Type cmd and hit enter - type ipconfig -all

This will show you what settings you need to enter into your phone.

Make sure you select an IP address on your phone that is not used by any other device or your pc. Just select something in the far end of the dhcp range. (Like 192.168.1.190)

Good luck :D
