i just switched from the EVO 4G to the new Epic touch and have noticed that my wifi reception is not as good with the samsung. has anyone else taken notice to this??

Mine doesn't show as much signal connection, but my speed is the same.

i did a speed test and it was also slower. only 3 mps compared to the 7 mps I had with the EVO. very strange.

No, you are not mistaken, the wifi on the Epic Touch is weak compared to the EVO 4G and even the original Epic. The range and speed are both rather weak. Most of the radios in this phone are weak, the achilles heel of this phone IMO. Just hope Samsung will actually do something about it.
Same as the Nexus S 4G, wifi and overall reception suck. Newer Samsung phones aren't good on Sprint. At least mine works ok though.

I haven't had a problem yet. I might compare my phone against my fiance's EVO and see if there is a difference but mines still blazing fast on FIOS.

Where do you live? Those kinds of speeds are for sure not typical
He lives 16ms from hendon va; so in or near fairfax (could be as far as maryland I suppsoe) but it is not relevant; as this is a wifi test. Location (in a global sense) is not going to impact wifi speeds

My wifi speeds are that fast, but the only way I could get them with the Epic Touch is if I stand directly next to the router. My EVO 3D gets almost that from a whole floor up and certainly from farther away maintains the speeds.

that's the issue I'm having. my old EVO was able to get better wifi reception than my new epic touch. for that matter my wife still has her EVO 4G and it gets better wifi reception. is this a software issue or a phone issue???
Its a Samsung phone issue, you can always go back to the Evo if its that big a deal...
I get 16Mbps down and not even 1 up on my wifi...You live in an area with hardly any people using bandwidth. I live in southern California, we never see anywhere close to those speeds here, too many people.

Not quite correct. Here in Orange County, Cox Communications customers can choose internet service of either 12 Mbps or 25 Mbps. So even in high population density areas there is fast internet speeds, you just have to pay for it.
I live in orange and have Time Warner turbo high speed with 25 down/5 up but good luck ever getting those speeds. I'd bet you don't get as advertised either unless it's late night.

Yup.. I agree, especially if you have one of their faster(est) connections. Just signed up for CenturyLink (Qwest) DSL, got the fastest they had in my area (20 down... for only $30) and was told to expect about 80% of that during "peak" times... so far they're right on.
