Wifi tether droid to droid?

I have a Samsung Fascinate, rooted with Barnacle and Wifi-tether. I can get both to work on my laptop and iPad but not my Galaxy S tab. I have a friend with a Xoom and his Xoom can't find wifi from my fascinate. I can force the SSID in the tablets but the connection says 'not in range'.
I tried the same thing using a rooted Motorola Droid Pro, same result. Anyone have any idea why a droid can't wifi tether to another droid?

The Droid, and probably your tablet, can't connect to ad hoc networks without a fix.
