Root Wifi tethering in system settings

Has anyone had this option suddenly pop up on their phone? It doesnt work but its there. It tells me it can't connect to the mobile data and to call customer support.

"can't connect to the mobile data and to call customer support" usually means that you don't have a tethering plan on a carrier that doesn't let you tether unless you pay for it.

I understand that. But if you've been following this forum you would know that the option wasn't/is not available on this phone.
