Wifi

If you use WiFi access on unsecured networks like a Starbucks with your phone cant there be security risks ?

Does anyone use WiFI in pulbic or strictly 3G?

Thanks in advance!

I'm a WiFi whore. I use it whenever I see it free and available. ($bux, bookstores, staples). In my neck of the woods, it's faster than 3G and we don't have 4G [yet]. I don't know of any security risks.

It is possible to set up a way for someone to intercept traffic from the Wifi network and unencrypted passwords and such. But its pretty rare, and unlikely to happen at a trusted wifi spot like a restaurant or something.

Theoretically, yes. Is it a practical concern? Not in my experience. If you're all tinfoil hat then use a good firewall and encryption.

Yup. People use all three options (WiFi only in public, 3G only in public, either in public), depending on who you ask.
