Help Will changing my metro pcs plan give me more data right away?

This is about metro pcs. I am currently on the 40$ 3GB plan. But I have just ran out of data.. it goes so quick. So I'm wondering if I go on the my metro app and change my rate plan that has more GB's on it, if it will give me more data right away.. I need to know asap I need data for work on my phone and I don't have a credit card to do the $5 top up to add an extra gig.

It should change instantaneously, however, call a rep and make sure that it actually gets swapped over immediately.
