Hi everyone,
I have Samsung Galaxy Core 2. Yesterday, after installing a software update that was downloaded automatically over the air, the phone's power consumption has increased dramatically. The battery gets drained 2-3 times faster than before. I a live chat Samsung guy advised me to do a Factory Reset. However, he could not answer my question if Factory Reset would revoke the update or would the update be still there.
Can you please advise me on that. I could, of course, just try. But re-installing and configuring all apps after Factory Reset will take a lot of time. So, if resetting will not remove the update then no need wasting this time.

A factory reset will wipe all data but not the update. I would try clearing the cache partition first.
  1. Turn off your smartphone
  2. Press and hold the "Volume Up", "Home" and "Power" buttons at the same time
  3. Once the phone vibrates, release the "Power' key but keep pressing "Volume Up" and "Home"
  4. Once the "Android System Recovery" screen appears, let go of the "Home" and "Volume Up" buttons
  5. Press the "Volume Down" key until you highlight "wipe cache partition"
  6. Press the "Power" button to confirm the highlighted option. Your phone will reboot in normal mode
You could always backup your data using Kies and restore it to the device if clearing the cache doesn't help and you are considering a factory reset.

I hope it does as getting Kies to work is a bit hit or miss. Let me know how you get on
