Help Will Google Play still see my HTC 1 M7 Max as the same phone if I root it ?

Paul_L75

Lurker
I am new to rooting phones full stop. I have paid for a few apps, and other software, Kindle, Amazon and I am wondering if, after I root my phone whether I will still be able to reinstall the apps and software I've paid for, as well as all the extra software available after the phone is rooted.

Yes, your purchases are tied to your Gmail account.

Thank you. I thought as much but, wanted to check before I unlock the boot loader which wipes the phone and SD card (well, not the SD card cos I'm gonna take it out before I do it...)

Cheers !

I don't seem to be able to root my phone using either Clockworkmod or TWRP.

Bootloader is unlocked sucessfully.

When I try to go into recovery after installing exactly as shown in a few different vids it just wont work. Goes into endless reboots until I get back to Fastboot and power down to power up normally back into stock HTC It's the HTC one MAX . . any ideas ?

I've yet to see a decent HTC rooting video so I don't know what they told you.

Before doing anything else, make a nandroid backup of your stock setup, right away. Always nandroid backup before making any root changes.

Never flash anything without checking the md5 checksum first.

If you bootloop after installing a rom you'll need to separately flash the boot.img.

If you need help with any of that, please ask.

Don't become the excited guy who takes shortcuts on nandroids or md5 checking, it's the road to ruin.

PS - trial and error on a recovery image and you didn't turn your phone into a paperweight. Thank your lucky stars, I don't think you realize what bullet your just dodged.

@EarlyMon Do we even have a HTC-1-M7 section?
This thread is really on the HTC One Max (on Verizon as evidenced by the t6vzw TWRP revision) -

But otherwise, yes, the M7 is the original One from 2013 also (following the original One X lol) -

And the One M8 from 2014 -

The One M9 is coming, not sure if it'll retain that name.

Lurkers you want TWRP for your HTC, go to - http://teamw.in/project/twrp2

Read and ask questions, we'd rather help up front than after a problem. :)
