Will HTC ever release a normal-sized device again?

Hi there,
I currently own an HTC Hero.
I loved it at first, even though its hardware was outdated from day one (a 1G iPhone which is 4 years old runs angry birds better than the Hero).
I wanna buy a new HTC phone, but all they do is to keep enlarging their phones.
I wanted to buy a new generation desire (if they announce a successor for the desire) but after CES 2011 im pretty sure i wont see a normal sized phone until 2012.
No, a 4.3 device which doesnt even fit into my pocket is not a normal sized phone.
Is there any chance I missed some news about new HTC devices that are in the HTC Desire size or smaller?
I think HTC are definitely going the wrong way with this, I love the sense interface and really wouldnt want to trade it for default android , but it seems they are not leaving any choice.

evo shift is an outdated device, its weaker than the htc desire, doesnt have a front facing camera, or a dual core proccessor, and it doesnt even have android 2.3 out of the box, or a dedicated proccessor.

its just like buying the htc hero, only a bit stronger.

A couple of things:

1. The HTC Evo Shift is, in fact, more powerful than the desire. It holds a second generation processor which, at its clock rate, is more powerful than a 1 GHz first gen Snapdragon. That being said, it is still considered pretty mid tier hardware after this year's CES.

2. HTC releases big phones because they sell. It does not matter if you think they are going in the right direction or not, their doubled earnings over the past year trumps your personal business sense. The big phones are their flagships and that is not going to change anytime soon.

3. Having said that, CES is not the be all or end all of phones. From what I can remember, HTC had a relatively small presence at CES last year too and their main product announcements (Desire, Legend, etc.) were all announced at MWC in Feburary. If you have the patience to wait for one more month I'm sure HTC will release more phones with different form factors.
