so... i charge my zenfone 3, the wifi and data is Off while charging. then after a while i check the status of battery %.... i forgot that the auto screen-off is off so when i left my phone, the screen is on for around 15 minutes. i heard that its bad to use the phone while charging as it put strain to the battery, so this made me vexed. is my phone alright? i put extra care to my phone cause i love my zenfone 3 x_x

I wouldn't worry about 15 minutes of screen on.

The problem with using a phone while charging is heat. So if you are charging (which heats the battery) during a gaming session (which runs your phone heavily, so generates maximum heat) then you aren't doing your battery any favours. But 15 minutes with the phone sitting with the screen on isn't going to do any damage (particularly if you are not pushing it to maximum brightness, which is unlikely indoors).

Technically, yeah you don't want to use your phone will it's charging and optimally you should turn it off while charging. The quote below is from: http://batteryuniversity.com/learn/article/charging_lithium_ion_batteries

"A portable device should be turned off during charge. This allows the battery to reach the set voltage threshold and current saturation point unhindered. A parasitic load confuses the charger by depressing the battery voltage and preventing the current in the saturation stage to drop low enough by drawing a leakage current. A battery may be fully charged, but the prevailing conditions will prompt a continued charge, causing stress."

But practically, that's just not a realistic practice. While it would be a luxury to have multiple smartphones, each configured to be concurrently in use so one is always available while another is being charged, here in the real world most of us cannot put a stop on our lives while we wait for our phones to recharge. So I wouldn't worry too much at all if you need to use your phone every so often while it's charging. If anything it's putting more of a 'stress' on your charger than your phone's battery (negligible while it's charging, more so when it's fully charged up).
