Help Will not read SIM card

Namez

Lurker
I just bought a broken OnePlus One on eBay and the only issue it seems to have is that it will not read the sim card. Any ideas?

I've read this can be a sign of someone flashing radios & they may not be compatible w/the SIM Card you're using.
I actually bought an OG SAMSUNG GALAXY NOTE,used,on e-Bay that had that exact problem.
Since the seller had a 14 day money-back guarantee,I didn't pursue the matter & just sent it back.

This forum has a lot of knowledgeable people.
Hang aroud a bit & they'll pop-in & should be able to better help determine if the problem is firmware/radios/or,a hardware issue.

Did you buy it knowing this was the issue? Did you happen to research it beforehand? If you were not aware of the issue, send it back. If you bought it just to mess around with and any added functionality is a plus, I would check out XDA and get to flashing some different combinations of firmware/radios if recommended by reputable people on there.

Yes, I knew this was the issue and I got it for that very reason. I love the phone and it was a great deal from an honest eBayer. I have a lot to learn hopefully I can get it to read through flashing? We shall see.

It seems to be the default OS. I have a lot to learn and I'm not familiar with all the terminology. What are"radios"? Or could you direct me to some beginner info. I've rooted a few phones through guides and that's about it.

From there, head on over to the various subforums for the OPO - http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-one#subForums

With this phone being very dev-friendly, there is a vast amount of information available for it. I would read up on the general rules of the XDA forum, use the search function and then post if you cannot find anything. Let us know if you need anymore help or if you are having no luck.
