Motorola droid max , Verizon . will not turn on tried to reboot with power button and volume down key .....NOTHING!! Any ideas???

Not sure why you're trying to turn on the phone using a combination of keys, when the power button alone should be sufficient to power up the device (unless you're trying to access the Recovery or Bootloaders, which I do not recommend for the casual user).
If the phone will not power up under charge with the power button, it sounds like a trip to Verizon is in order for a warranty replacement.
