Will switching back to a dumbphone break my contract?

While I really don't wish to do so, there might come a time where I need to switch back to a dumbphone for financial reasons while still within my two year contract that I signed with my HTC Incredible.

I still have my old dumbphone sitting around, in case of anything. My question is, will I incur any fees if I needed to switch back to this phone and remove the data plan for a period of time? Has anyone had to do this before?

My reasons for those of you that might ask:

I'm a graduate student right now, studying education. In the Spring I'm going to have to student teach which will drastically cut my income. While I've anticipated this and built up savings to last me through the months, there's always a chance it won't be enough. I just want to have my options open, or be prepared to pay any fees and/or take out a loan for those few months.

The phone really comes in handy, so I hope I never have to resort to switching back :(

yes you can drop the data package and reprogram your "dumb" phone to your number. the contract is for the line only, not for the data package. I have done this on my contract. not a big deal.
