Will VZW Moto X Work in Europe?

I'm just about to pull the trigger on a Moto X from verizon. I travel to europe a lot and am looking forward to finally getting a phone that will work there. Moto X is GSM, right? So can I just swap out the sim when I travel?

I'm not scared of rooting (unlocking?) the phone if I have to. Just never done it before.

I have the same question, spending time in both US and in the EU, so I want to know if I can put in an EU SIM and run with my local service.

I read in the Q&A section of the Verizon website that the Verizon Moto X does not work with GSM networks, but if I understand correctly the AT&T version can. But I am no expert, I want to be sure what I am buying!

Someone must have the answer!

Looking on the spec sheet for the Verizon Moto X, the frequencies it supports are as follows:
Network
Network: LTE, CDMA/1xEVDO Rev. A (800/1900 MHz)
Global Network: EDGE/GSM (850/900/1800/1900), HSPA/UMTS( 850/900/1900/2100), HSDPA 42.2 Mbps (Category 20), HSUPA 5.76 Mbps

So if the device is sim unlocked, it should hypothetically work on those frequencies.

The phone is listed on vzw's web site as a global phone, and my understanding is that all Verizon global LTE phones are sim-unlocked.

One way to tell for sure is to have a friend with AT&T or t-mobile using a phone with a nano-sim have you try running the X with their sim. If it works without prompting for a sim unlock code, it will work with other gsm sims.

I have a droid Maxx and I have read that AT&T sims work in the Maxx. That doesn't mean the same is true for the x, though.

I just got off the phone with Verizon and I was told that all 4G LTE phones are SIM unlocked, if the phone you have has global capabilities, then it should work on other networks granted that the phone works on the same frequencies as the network you're on.

So this means that the Moto X on Verizon is sim unlocked and will work in Europe on certain frequencies?

Yes. Here are the frequencies:

Global Network: EDGE/GSM (850/900/1800/1900), HSPA/UMTS( 850/900/1900/2100), HSDPA 42.2 Mbps (Category 20), HSUPA 5.76 Mbps

LTE B13/4 700/1700

LTE probably will not work.
