Will we see any Android phones this year with higher res screens?

I like my DINC, but not the pentile format. I think the resolution of the iPhone 4's screen is amazing but the screen is too small. Does anyone think that maybe we'll see a 4" screen with a higher resolution than 480x800 or 480x854? I think it would be killer if someone could come up with a 720x1280 lcd screen in the 4-4.3" range, but I'm not sure how likely this is to happen.

I don't know. If you look at the screen on the DX for instance, it looks just as nice as the iPhone 4 screen in my opinion, and it's bigger. Listed resolution does nothing for me if the real world appearance is good. I'm sure though that one of these manufacturers (most likely Samsung) will have something come out soon that has a higher resolution.

I agree that the X screen looks nice, but where I can really notice a difference is when viewing web pages, the text on the unzoomed iphone screen looks much much more sharp and easy to read, the X looks pretty blocky and not nearly as clear.

Higher res screens won't happen until Android 3.0. Current 2.1 and 2.2 maximum resolution support is 854x480.

I 'm sure some manufactures can release a product 1280x600 but they need to do something about scaling the current apps which don't support a higher resolution screen.

They could put black bars around the app or stretch it. Pixel doubling won't work.

I'm guessing it will be next April or so because like I said, the new phones need to be running on 3.0.
