windows 10 says no files on my android

My windows 10 PC recognizes my Huawei H1611, but when I click on the phone symbol, it says no files.
The usb cable I am using is for both charging and data transfer. Any thoughts on this issue?

on your phone check your notification bar and set to files. By default it connects as charge only. also sometimes I would have to unplug and replug it back in to get it to work.

Your phone is running the Android OS which uses the ext4 file system (a common Unix-based file system), your Windows PC is running, well Windows, and uses NTFS as its file system (a Windows only file system) -- two different operating systems and two different file systems. There's also an issue where your phone's internal storage is ext4 while a microSD card formatted as external (portable) will be FAT32 (or exFAT for larger capacity cards). So your Win10 PC only has very limited ability to view/access your phone's internal storage media, while still having a lot more access to the microSD card. It's all just a compatibility issue.

actually that really has not alot to do with it. every Android phone I have owned except the H1611 works perfectly fine with windows 10. As I stated by default it is connected as charge only and you need to change it to mtp mode. if it still doesn't work unplug it and plug it back in. worked every time. Also if that was the the case when my external hard drive was plugged in Windows would have issues with that since the external is formated as ext4 yet when I plug it in no issues.

My thanks to everyone who replied. I finally solved the problem by carrying out a factory reset

Your other option would be USB debugging.. Some PC's won't see anything when debugging is active, until ya turn it off
