Windows 10 stopped recognizing s7 edge

The computer was able to see the S7 Edge and files were transferred. today, it won't show up. The driver was reinstalled. No effect. It should not be the driver since initially the phone was interacting with the computer. I did use the cable that came with the new phone.

got it. didn't know that I had to select an option to do more than charge. not an option on the s4.
