Windows 8 Update--then loss of all Youtube channels

Hi,
Earlier tonight I turned on pc, then noticed Win 8 Updates was doing it's work.
Once that settled down, I went onto YouTube and found I had lost every one of my videos that I had built up over a good few months.
Is this a google thing or a Win 8 thing??.
Why do Apple and Android assume everyone wants and desperately needs fb or twitter. Personally I wish they would cease to exist. Wiped fb off my phone and got my life back.
It seems google wants to get more and more entwined with these social sites, and thats where I think youtube has gone too. Please correct me if I am wrong, or explain to me how to get them back.
Thanks,
Greg

Gotta be a Google thing, unless you have some password management program running that might empower Windows 8 to bork your Google accounts. I honestly don't think that Microsoft is that stupid though.

It does look like Google shot YouTube in the foot. I used to use it to post my professional work, which is pretty much all it's good for since I can't post a single frame of "found" video without it blocking my account. When Google insisted that I change my online handle to my actual name, I just quit using it altogether. I guess they have enough paying customers now that they don't need "man on the street" contributors any more. Pity.

You wishes can be made true. There is a vast magic wonderland in Asia, where Facebook and Twitter cease to exist.

I have had a whinge at them, but wasting my time--they probably don't give a toss.
Thanks anyway for your replies.
Greg
