Windows Phone 7

Hi guys, huge android fan been using my Nexus s for quite a while and I really have made it my own.

What I want to know is, is Windows Phone 7 an open platform? I am not thinking about switching anytime soon but I really think the interface is quite for the WP7, at first I didn't like it but I actually think its rather slick now especially the UI and the facebook integration. I know there are themes you can use for androids and I have tried mostly all of them but as you can imagine they are very stripped down and limited, from metro UI all the way to launcher 7 : )

But is the actual WP7 OS an open platform? Can you do what you want to it or does Microsoft control the experience?

Thanks guys.

The Windows OS is indeed slick but I wouldn't recommend purchasing one yet.

From a dev viewpoint, Microsoft is doing a poor job. Admittedly they've done a good job giving you all the tools but payments are very slow, sales reporting is practically non-existant, the fees to publish are triple Androids and finally you need to file a lot of paperwork otherwise they keep 30% of your profits.

For non-devs, you can expect to pay upto

Nice! Has anyone here tried it? Recommended?

Edit: Decided to download the donate version of the app and it's pretty nice. I've been really intrigued by WP7 and although this app doesn't give you the full 'experience' you do get a nice, if not somewhat superficial, WP7 experience.
