Help Wipe or erase data with broken screen

I have a regular Droid Razr. How do I wipe the data from my phone before turning it back into the insurance company with a broken screen? The phone is on and I can't get it to shut off with out waiting for the battery to fully discharge. Everything except the screen seems to work. The files will not load through usb without the use of the broken screen (that I know of). Any help is appreciated. -Navin

If you can connect it to your computer withe the USB lead maybe windows will see it as a storage device and let you erase data from there

Thanks for taking the time to read and respond to my question. When I hook up the usb to a windows computer the storage drives will not open because my phone will not release the files until I select the usb mass storage button on the screen. I'm pretty sure I'm stumped here with out smashing it to smithereens.

If your important data was on the external SD card maybe just remove the card before sending for repair.
