Help WLM and wallpaper

Hi,
I'm now a proud owner of the portal on the '3' network.
I've only had it for 24 hours now and still have a lot to learn but there's 2 things im getting stressed/mystified over and hope you can help.

Firstly, Windows live messenger through '3' seems to keep receiving/sending messages (not sure which) and am worrying if this is gonna use up my text allowance and if i can stop it.

Secondly im trying to set a picture i have as the wallpaper but the phone wants me to crop it, when i do it enlarges the cropped area to fill the screen, Why cant i just have the full normal pic and if i can, how?

Create an account using your gmail address, and it will sent the background directly to your phone.

If you do wish to use your own background, it will default to cropping a small central area of your image. Just use your finger to enlarge the crop box size to fill the whole image, a bit like you'd use a mouse to enlarge the area.
