wondering if i messed up hitting the forget button

I was connected to a WiFi signal I guess I was picking up from my neighbors or something. I wasn't sure if I was working off my Verizon wireless connection or the WiFi connection, so I disconnected from it a couple times. But it didn't say disconnect the only option was forget. And now I can't get a WiFi connection anymore. I'm wondering if when I press forget it won't connect to those anymore or if forget just means disconnect and then if it was still in range it would pick it back up.I tried doing a factory reset but it didn't work. Wanted to know if I lost those connections for good. And I could a been getting it for free

Welcome to the forums.

Forget causes your phone to forget the password for a network and not list it until wifi is switched off and on again. You should therefore be able to find the network again. Maybe your neighbour has made his network "hidden" in which case your phone will not find it. Could just be that the signal is not always strong enough to register.
