wooow 9 Mbps IN L.A

Okay looks like OP was trolling, I just got back to L.A. and did four speed tests. They were all within the range I specified earlier in this thread.

Idk if he was trolling or not, but those speed are quite possible nowadays for metropcs...

first of all that app isnt the same he is using if u wanna call some1 out on their claims atleast use the same app he was using ive used that app b4 and never got the same results i got on speedtest, so which app is more accurate?? no one knows and no one can say! also notice on speedtest it measures by kila-bits and mega-bits which does that app use? dosnt say.

for example just did a speed test with that and its saying my upload its at around 8mbps lmao

in my opinion speedtest seems to be more accurate

5.43 mbps up, 2.17 down (server in Irvine, CA)

FCC:

3.17 mbps down, 2.48 up (server in L.A.)

HOWEVER, that is still nowhere remotely near 9 mbps.

lol no worries and 5 is pretty good i havnt seen 5 in ages but one day i will see it again......one day lol in conclusion whose to say which app is more accurate? maybe that fcc speed test is and speedtest isnt? dunno aslong we get decent speeds i guess.

quite frankly both of them are inaccurate. they merely give you an idea of what you'll get and the numbers give you some bragging rights if they're high.

if you want true accuracy you need to surf the web or download a file(preferably at least 100mba) and see how fast you do those things.

well such sites only allow you to download what they can afford to send u meaning speeds they can afford to upload to you. for example microsoft downloads on high broadband can go up to 3mb per sec other normal sites such as media fire dropbox are like 300-400 kb per sec im gonna do a pc tether speed test and see what i get.

You also gotta keep in mind where such file is being uploaded. Any files that is upload far away could affect the download speed ... soo it depends

I have a question if most carriers with 4g are on lte why don't we get the same speeds? I mean I just saw the iPhone 5 do a speedtest and they got 48 mbps of download and like 30 mbps of upload

Because they have more spectrum and spectrum is bandwidth and bandwidth is what speeds you get so in most places the big carriers have about 20mhz or more of spectrum and in most places we have 5 or 10mhz we have the money available but not that much is left.

I just did a speed test and got 6.08 mbps down and 4.40 up-in Westminster, CA off a server in L.A.

I was surprised because I usually average less than half of that, and prior to today I'd never achieved 5 down let alone 6!

Hopefully this wasn't a freaking accident and will become commonplace.
