Wordfeud is a multiplayer word game for Android, similar to Scrabble and Words with Friends for iPhone. Features include:

  • Participate in up to 20 concurrent games.
  • Play with friends from your contact list or with random strangers.
  • English and Norwegian dictionaries. More languages to follow in future updates.
  • Two board styles, Normal and Random (bonus squares are placed randomly on the board).
  • Optional push notifications.
  • Integrated chat and customizable avatar.

It's about to be released on the market, but in order to weed out any bugs that might have gone unnoticed, I'd be very happy if anyone here would be interested in trying it.

The game can be downloaded at http://wordfeud.com/media/android/WordfeudFree.apk, or by scanning the following QR code:

Note: I recommend that you go into Settings (click the menu button from the main screen) and activate background notifications. That way you'll be notified whenever it's your turn to make a move.

This looked like a lot of fun, and I downloaded and was just about to install....but I'm wondering why it needs access to Personal Information, Phone Calls & System Tools?

I can understand Network Communications, for obvious reasons, but why the others?

Wordfeud beta - I started a new game with a random user and they never started playing and the game won't let me resign so I can try to play with someone else. I starting an additional game with a random player but it didn't add a new game.

This is the reason I did not register.

its nice. only way i could think to make it better would be to add pinch to zoom instead of just double tap, a button to randomize the order of your tiles, and the ability to rearrange your tiles when its not your turn.

This game ROCKS! Words With Friends was one of the main things I envied about my friends' iPhones. Quoth the raven, 'nevermore.'

Nice game but really those ads are a bit much..

Also needs a timeout for players who don't take their move.
