I have a T-Mobile G1/HTC Dream that is rooted to Cyanogen Mod 6.1.0-DS. (bought it used and already rooted. I'm a noob to the rooting/flashing world)
I am just discovering that Android Market has recently changed to Google Play. My phone did not automatically update itself, and I just found out that the G1/HTC Dream device is not supported to use with the new Google Play. Supported Devices - Google Play Help
Is there a workaround to get Google Play to work on my phone? Does anyone know if there is a different way to load apps? (ie: copy apps from husband's SD card to my own?)
I have a feeling I am S.O.L. because I have an older model.
I am also experiencing problems with browser and other GAPPS, and suspect that it's connected to the now unstable Market that is still installed. (problems began after a few unsuccessful app download attempts). If Market is unsupported on my phone anyway, would it hurt anything if I uninstalled it?
Any help or insight would be appreciated.

UPDATE: Connectivity issue is resolved. I found that my issues went away when using the WiFi at Caribou, so I knew it had to be my router. Somehow I had Block Services selected in my router settings, and changing that seemed to do the trick.
As for Market, they do not allow me to download apps to my PC for a manual install as I had hoped, but I found a store with non-market apps.
