Wrong Number Displaying for Contact

I have a contact with with multiple phone numbers. I have set the mobile number as the default number.
However when I call her, it displays her home phone number. Also when she calls me from her mobile, it displays her home number in large print and her mobile in smaller print below.
Even if I manually dial her mobile number, once the call begins to go through it displays her home number.
This is confusing. Is this a common way contact numbers are handled in the native phone dialer?

In people, select accounts>customise>and select every tick box.

Go back to the main list and you'll likely see duplicates. If so log into your account on a computer and you should be able to merge/clean them up.

I don't believe she is having problems with duplicate contacts. She has contacts with multiple phone numbers. The problem appears to be that her caller ID is mislabeling the number it is using as one of the other numbers.

I don't see this problem on my phone.

The only time that has happened to me is when that same number was associated to multiple contacts. I'd suggest dumping the contact list from gmail-contacts into a csv file, and then, try to find that phone# in that file to see if it is listed under different contacts by any chance.
