X10 GPS annoyances

I have 2 major problems with the GPS on my X10 running 2.1 on Rogers Wireless

1- Anytime the GPS is activated (manually, by an app, etc.), There's a confirmation popup saying "Data transmission charges may apply..." and I have to tap on "Agree" to continue. I haven't found any way to disable or bypass it, and not everyone seems to get this message. does anyone know how I can get rid of it?

2- I'm trying to use Tasker to trigger certain tasks when GPS is turned on or off, but there's no context for GPS when I start a new profile. Does anyone know how to trigger Tasker based on GPS status?

try going to Settings> Locations & Security Settings
check if the first two options are on "ticked"
if they are, un-tick them and tick them again
the pop-up question will come again, but hopefully for the last time

however, activating the GPS manually will always bring up the confirmation question
other than that, apps and others will not ask you this question again

P.S: if you activated the GPS manually, it will not work until an app needs it, so no point of deactivating it unless you don't want to use it while using maps..etc

I've tried that, and I still have to "Agree" every time I turn GPS on by any means. Leaving it on isn't an option because a) it can be turned off manually (disabling my ability to use a tracking app) and b) I'm trying to conserve battery power, only turning on GPS when I need it.

When you leave it on, it will automatically turn on when you need it, like when you use tracker or maps, and when you finish using those apps and close them the GPS will turn off immediately. This works with almost all apps

None of this solves my issue. If I try to activate the GPS remotely, the "agree or disagree" dialog pops up. So all someone has to do if they steal my phone is to disable the GPS and they can't be tracked.

I've since flashed with a custom ROM, and flashed back to stock, to no avail.

To be fair, in the real world who exactly is going to do this tracking - not the police, are you going to do it yourself?

I wouldn't bother too much with this kind of functionality, if it gets stolen ring your mobile company and get the IMEI blocked and all they have is a useless piece of plastic.

When it is so easy to wipe the phone using SEUS it doesn't matter what programmes you have on there, within a few minutes of googling on how to unlock or clear a phone they will be downloading SEUS and your phone will be back to factory settings with no locator app on it.
