XDA Update - anyone do it?

Anyone attempt to install the latest XDA update for the Nexus One? Apparently address the 3G issue....

I'm reading that you can do it w/o rooting but one poster said they tried it and lost all their messages and apps so I'm holding off to hear if any other non-rooted phones have this problem.

I installed the new radio the day it was leaked. I've never had the 3g problem though so it's still all good for me.

I never had the 3G issue either. But one thing I really notice since upgrading was the improved battery life. Before, I was getting around 14~16hrs a charge. Now it's more than doubled! It's been 15hrs since I took it off the charger and I'm at 64% now. ;)

no chit! i can't wait for the 'official' release of this.... not confident enough to do the xda upgrade...
