Help Xperia Neo V- How to download apps direct to SD card

Is there a way to download apps directly to the SD card. I have very little/no space on the phone itself thanks to to all the inbuilt garbage that comes on the phone. So anytime I try to download an app, I get an error message.

I don't like fiddling around with my phone, for fear of breaking it, so unless I have crystal clear steps, I won't try rooting it.
