Xperia Play-like gamepad?

Hey,
Does anyone know of any gamepads (bluetooth or other) that have about the same inputs as the Xperia Play?

And would they work to play Xperia Play games?

It's just for my next phone, I want to get a higher spec phone as I got the second grade processor last time (the HTC Legend @ 600MHz) and it annoys me with its speed, so I don't want to do this again and would like the highest grade processor but also play Xperia Play games with a gamepad

All the best

I doubt it would work, depending what phone you have games download files for that device, so unless the game has fully customizable controls which most don't the answer would be no.

But if you can find a controller similar and the game supports custom input devices and customizable controls then yes.

For emulators you can use a Wii Remote by using the WiiIME apk from the market, or it is called something close to that. If you have a physical keyboard on your device you can use the Game Gripper. If not, you can look up the iControlPad but it will run you close to $100.

Why don't you just get the Xperia Play?

I don't trust SE to keep it updated, from experience and when I bought my HTC Legend, it wasn't top spec. and I'm finding now that it cope with some apps, so I want a top spec. phone when I buy one

Sony is allowing people to unlock their bootloader without issue from them, meaning ROM Developers in the hacking community WILL keep your Play as updated as possible. I made a thread about it earlier today in the Play Forum here;

Yes, it will! I just looked at some news about it earlier. Classic Controller Support Comes to Android Wii Remote App - Wii News @ Nintendo Life

But to get it to work you will need to purchase this application which runs $3.99 USD:

If you get that app though, your friends can play games on your phone, too since it supports up to 4 total devices at once!

EDIT: It does come with a warning;

This currently doesn't work on phones with HTC's Sense UI and Samsung's TouchWiz Pro. It is up to them to fix this problem!

don't worry about that, I'm running CM 7. I really hope someone makes it possible to play Xperia games with it, that'd be siick

Well, if it makes you feel any better, I am going to get the Play when it comes to Verizon and I am ordering that Gamepad in a week or so, so I will be able to test it out. If the developers of those games allow you to map keys at all you should be able to set it up.

I could try sending an email to Gameloft, but apparently they have sh*te customer service so I'm not very hopeful.

it's already on our red network, I'm also weary about reviews like this Sony Ericsson Xperia Play Review | Mobile Phones | CNET UK and a plastic screen. I'm not rough with my phones, but nor do I pamper them with leather cases, I find them annoying
