I would like to root my first gen Moto G (XT1039) in order to install TWRP to backup my phone and install cyanogenmod, but all methods I have seen require unlocking the bootloader first, which will wipe the data I wish to backup. Is it possible to root my phone without first unlocking the bootloader?
