Hi all
Before getting my Hero I was a big Ymail user. I still think it's superior to Gmail - but that's another story.
I am adapting to Gmail a little more now, as I used to use it for backup purposes only. I hate the conversation style - but meh, I've get used to it.
Anyway: a lot has been posted about yahoo setting for getting it in your mail app - but I have two other workarounds that I am currently happy with.
1: fetch
This option is good if you want to preserve email on your yahoo account, but would like to see it on your android device in the gmail app.
First, go to settings in gmail on your lappy/pc.
Click "accounts and import"
Go to "check mail using pop3"
Enter your details
Gmail will now fetch your mail from yahoo - and label it "ymail" or whatever you like, so you can stay organised.
You can also make it leave a copy on your yahoo server.
The only downside is that gmail doesn't check for new mail in your yahoo account all that often, and I can't see a way to make that any more frequent.
2: Forward
This option works by forwarding all of your yahoo mail to your gmail account. It will appear in your gmail from the original author - rather than if you set up a filter to forward your mail (it'd all be from you@yahoo.co.uk).
This works much faster than option 1, but you have to set up labels manually.
Anyway, I have stuck to option 2 - as it's my intention to slowly wean people onto my gmail address and let my ymail address fade out.
Now all I need to make me happy is a way to turn off conversation style in gmail!
